Educate Your Community

StopMedicineAbuse.org and the Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA) are partnering with communities nationwide to help raise awareness at the local level about cough medicine abuse.

Five Steps to Planning Your Event

1. Submit your name and coalition information.
   • Let us know you are interested in hosting an event and qualify for CADCA’s Dose of Prevention Award.
   • The winning coalition will receive $1,000 as well as free registration, travel, and accommodation for four nights for one person to attend CADCA’s annual National Leadership Forum in Washington, D.C., in 2011.
2. Check out the tool kit
   • The kit has all the information you will need to plan and execute your event on cough medicine abuse. The tool kit includes: media alerts, press releases, and op-eds you can share with local media; information to pass out to your attendees; and a PowerPoint presentation you can use at your event. You can browse the toolkit on the right hand side of this page.
3. Download the video
   • StopMedicineAbuse.org and CADCA created a video for you to show at your event. The video provides information on teen cough medicine abuse and is designed to help you educate your community about the issue. Show it at your event!
4. Order free brochures
   • Order up to 100 of the following brochures at no cost to pass out at your event

     • Preventing Teen Cough Medicine Abuse: A Parent’s Guide (Also in Spanish)
5. Tell us about your event
   • We will post the information about your event on this site, our Facebook page, and our Twitter page to help you get the word out about your event.
   • Don’t forget, hosting an event about cough medicine abuse could help you win CADCA’s Dose of Prevention Award. The winning coalition will receive $1,000 as well as free registration, travel, and accommodation for four nights for one person to attend CADCA’s annual National Leadership Forum.
